I believe in interdisciplinary collaboration, innovative creation, critical thought, and community connection. In these things I find hope.
The Future Tree (2013) was a commission for Common Weal Community Arts and the Regina Folk Festival. The work incorporated recycled technology gathered from around Regina, and invited people to write into blank leaves on the tree with chalk to identify their hopes and dreams for the future. Over 1000 people wrote on the tree during the three days of the festival, with dreams and hopes and fears ranging from “I wish for a family” to “I am scared of zombies” to “I don’t want a football stadium.” Rebecca Caines is on the board for Common Weal and continues to support their creative work for social change through art.
